Mikael Weitz on the right in the BSI skinsuit & blue/yellow boots
Before BSI (belmont shore inline) disbanded when we were all younger, new to the skating/racing team, I had the joy of being teammates with Mikael Weitz. On 1/6/2104 Mikeal passed of cancer. We lost a great skater, awesome athlete and friend. He was so fun to skate with, a beast to train with (he had no "off" button") and so interesting to chat with. RIP Mikael heaven has gained an awesome angel.......
*in the photo above you can see Mikael's legs and blue & yellow boots (colors of Sweeden, his home country) (2nd place) from the podium of the Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10k the race was fun the award times were even more fun!

Here is the reason there is a brake on the back of a 5 wheel skate, it helps the intermediate to advanced skater, to change from a high rec or fitness boot, to a speed skate boot. It is constructed of air craft aluminum, is designed to be used EXACTLY as it was manufactured. If you drill it, bend it or otherwise try to "adjust it" after it has been bent, it will break in two pieces, unless you have access to a heat treating system after! Therefore, these one of kind custom made brakes are available on a limited basis. They are custom designed for each individual frame, as there are many different types of boots, frames and wheel heights these days. From 80 mm, to 84 mm to, 88 mm, 90 mm Think by the time you get to using a 100 mm wheel, there will be no need for a brake! If interested please contact: racebrake@aol.com

ok Imagine this your skating down the path, by yourself having a great time and suddenly fall, road rash bad enough that your not able to speak, be it fallen and passed out, or a bad injury leaving you unable to speak, here is a simple idea that will save your life, it will speak for you! A simple bracelet that goes arround your wrist or leg. With the important info about yourself, medical allergies or special needs and a place for a phone number of someone to call for you. Can you imagine all of this for under 20 bucks? Talk about cheap insurance!! get one, wear one, your family will thank you!
How many times have I noticed a skater without a helmet, yet when I ask them why they are skating without one? The reply? I am only skating local, this is practice not a race, I am only a rec skater i don't need one. A millionother excuses, oh ya the best one, don't bug me, don't tell me what to do I am an adult I don't fall! Ok s we won't tell you what to do or think, but after you fall and can no longer think or talk, or walk properly after a head injury then tell us about your life.... there is a link on the left about www.wearahelmet.org wearing a helmet or not? You decide, I say wear one! Ya only get one head and 2 hands, hurt your head and your hands won't work, wrist guards alone are not enough. Wear ahelmet is the correct thing to do, have a great day and skate fast but skate safe!
